ARMED is driven by innovation - using the latest technology to tackle prevention and self-management.
ARMED has won a series of innovation related awards relating to the market disruption of the solution and the uniqueness of the proposition supporting early intervention and prevention.
ARMED brings benefits to individuals and their families, Care Providers and the wider community. By encouraging self-management and identifying at-risk individuals sooner, reducing health costs and taking the pressure off acute services, avoiding ambulance call outs, unnecessary hospital admissions and delayed discharges.
The starting point for ARMED was finding a way to use machine learning to identify escalating risk, a cause of which is falls. The number of hospital admissions due to an older person falling is set to rise to nearly 1000 a day by the end of the decade. This means falls prevention is not a luxury but a necessity.
